· By Jacob Reidhead

A Text Analysis course project developed into a published collaboration on Vietnamese students in Taiwan's bilingual higher-education programs.

Overview

This paper originated as a final project in our Text Analysis course. What began as a classroom exploration was developed into a full research paper in collaboration with Thanh Hien (Frede) Vo, a PhD student in the International Doctoral Program in Asia-Pacific Studies.

Using a hybrid of thematic analysis and LDA topic modeling, the study identifies academic, sociocultural, institutional, and well-being factors affecting student success. It demonstrates how classroom training can develop into collaborative computational social-science research.
