Citation

For provisional reference, cite the Organization of Power Lab as creator of the North Korea Politics Database and include the version, access date, and permanent release URL. A final copy-ready citation will be published with the first versioned release.

Data Coverage

The development database covers organizations, officials, positions, appointments, relationships, and political transitions across North Korea's party, state, military, and parastatal sectors. Exact temporal coverage, exclusions, and known gaps remain to be verified for the first public release.

Schema

The database is maintained in the PostgreSQL schema `nkpolitics`. Its public schema description will identify approved tables, keys, relationships, and derived views after model-to-database verification. A public diagram or SQL artifact will be added when it is ready for release.

Data Sources & Methods

Records are assembled from project-curated public and research sources, then normalized around people, organizations, positions, appointments, and time. A source-by-source inventory, coding rules, identity-resolution procedure, and uncertainty conventions will accompany the first reviewed release.

Current Structure

Configured Explore tools currently include Organization Tree, Organization Browser, and Officials Directory. The metadata registry also contains 4 enabled download resources. These entries describe the development application surface; release readiness, table coverage, and public fields remain subject to the Database's vertical-slice review.

Planned Expansion

Planned work prioritizes verified temporal coverage, clearer organization hierarchies, career transitions, and documented relationship evidence. New layers will be listed only after their models, public fields, and audit rules are reviewed.
